We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this rare compound 5 nhp Marshall S type 3 speed convertible. This engine, works number 88380, is a true convertible and is complete with its original set of rolls and everything to convert to a roller if required. It is one of the last Marshalls to come out of their Brittania Works in Gainsborough being completed in 1938. It was sold to Watford Borough Council and registered by them on 16th March 1938 being given the number DRO 890. In its working days it was towed to its various places of work by a steam wagon using a push pole. The engine had a short working life of only 12 years before being laid up in dry storage in a barn. It was then bought by the Gregory family in the 1980’s but they were unable to complete restoration. It was then sold to the present owners in 2002 who have since restored the engine to a very fine standard. With such a short working life the engine is excellent mechanically and has very good boiler reports. It comes with a new boiler test, the roller kit and a canopy that is complete but not fitted to the engine. The engine can be viewed by prior arrangement. SOLD CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW OWNERFor more information, speak to Sean or Michael |
