Make: Fowler Model: R Type Compound Reg No. AJ 5819 Year: 1901 Boiler Test: Dimensions: |
We have here a Fowler 'R' type compound agricultural engine. She is 2 speed and sprung on the rear which many R types were which considerably improves the ride on the road. Supplied new to Turners of Lazenby, North Yorkshire and remained with them right up until 1985, when it was purchased by Pat Allen of Lincoln.
In 2006 the engine was sold to the present owner and much work has been carried out since. This has included a new flanged and riveted firebox, foundation ring, firehole door ring and door, back head, longitudinal boiler stays and building up as necessary. New high pressure valve and regulator valve and all seats done, new back axle and wheel bearing on one side and the other machined, new back axle bearings, all new suspension linkage, new 3rd shaft and re-machining of associated bearings, new water pump linkage.
The tender has had a new bottom fitted along with an inspection hatch and the inside has been completely lined and new brake bands have been rolled and fitted to the rear wheels. Prior to all this work a new front tubeplate was fitted in 1986 which still has 15mm .
The engine still retains its original paintwork so she is in her "working clothes" and looks splendid as she is. The original logbook and all owners plates and tax plates are still with the engine.
Much restoration work has gone into this engine which steams very freely. The owner would consider a part exchange, especially for a Burrell which is the owners favourite make.
