Works No. 8635, built 1899

8 NHP Single Cylinder, 2 speed, Sprung

Built in 1899 for export to Ireland for farmer called John Jeffers in Co. Louth. John Jeffers still owned when it was first registered as IB 5747 in Co. Armagh. It is a type B4 with a large firebox and was reputedly fired with peat turves during its working life. It was restored initially in the 1980’s and appeared in the 1996 feature film ‘Michael Collins’.

It was brought to England in 2000 and was bought by the current owner, Richard, in 2013. During its time in England and under Richard’s ownership, the engine has undergone a lot of work to make it the stunning agricultural it is today.

It has recently had a new barrel and tube plate meaning the boiler is good for many years to come. At point of writing, there is 6-years remaining on the hydraulic test and the steam test was done in late May 2017, meaning it has a lot of boiler ticket left. There is both a water pump and injector for filling the boiler.

Recently, the engine has also had a new back axle, new centre drive boss, and a new pair of front vulcanised tyres. It weighs in at just under 13 tonnes and is mounted on rubber tyres so is good for road runs.

Overall, a lovely engine which is a credit to those who have completed the work on it over recent years.

This engine has been relisted due to the potential buyer being unable to raise the funds.

This engine is open to flexible part-exchange. What have you?

£120,000
