A lovely, brass example of the 5 inch gauge British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 tender Locomotive, "Evening Star". This class of engine was built from 1954 to 1960, and the last 9F (and engine by BR) to be produced was in fact, "Evening Star", which left production in 1960 with the works number 92220. They were heavy freight Locomotives, often believed to be amongst the most powerful ever produced in Britain. The model therefore reflects this superior engine and is a proud looking piece of engineering.

The engine comes with an extensive folder including its boiler history and information about the work completed. Invoices are included from GPN Models amounting to around £3,000 worth of work carried out by them. This amounts to a nearly sorted engine which has been completed to its current stage by professionals. The invoices date between 2014 and 2015 so the work is still relatively recent.

The Locomotive was built with a silver soldered copper boiler fitted with a super heater and twin injectors.

The cab includes the usual fittings with a twin water gauge, lever operated sliding firebox doors, windows and a screw reverser control.

The engine has cast iron cylinders with piston valves operated by the Walschaert's valve gear, fitted with drain cocks and fluted motion.

The 6 wheeled trailer that comes with the engine has all the correct steps and hand rails but also features cast leaf springs.

The boiler history is by Tiverton and District Model Engineering Society certification of pressure system No. 151476 dated November 3rd 2014. The certificate expires on November 2nd 2018. It has a working pressure of 90psi and has been hydrauliced to 180psi.
