Another of these popular Fosters built to the well tried and tested LSM design and based on 6NHP Foster no. CT 6708. Although this is an older build engine, it has been very well maintained and looks and runs better than many much newer engines I have seen. Commercially built boiler by Ashfold Ltd of Bristol with expanded in copper tubes and all the original paperwork for the boiler manufacture has been retained. The Ramsbottom type safety valves have been cleverly modified to take the much more efficient Poppet valves, however unless one looks closely one would never know. Single cylinder with Stephenson valve gear and pole reverser on the footplate. Boiler feed is by injector and crankshaft driven pump with bypass valve. A winch is fitted to the nearside hind wheel and fairleads on the tender. The paintwork and lining out is very good and rubber tyres are fitted which gives the engine a more comfortable ride on the road or on the rallyfield (it is road registered).
An easy engine to steam and drive, powerful and yet light enough to be easily transported.
