Model Type  Traction Engine 'Royal Chester'
Boiler Year  Unknown but looks unused
Boiler Material  Copper
Height
Width
Length

A pleasant looking example of the ever popular 1 1/2" scale Allchin 'Royal Chester' to the tried and tested W. J. Hughes design. Although we don't have a paper trail for this model, it looks to never have been steam (or if it has, it was on a cleaner fuel such as gas as there are no deposits inside the chimney or smokebox). Being unsteamed and so presumably used previously as an ornament, it would benefit from some work by the prospective buyer if they wish to steam it or run it on air. These are things such as the front axle not being secured onto the perch bracket, missing cylinder lubricator and the motion being a little slack in the main bearings. It also is not currently running so presumably has an issue with the timing or similar.

Alternatively, of course, if you didn't plan to steam it, it makes the perfect display item which has been nicely finished in the paint and build quality. The boiler is copper and of unknown manufacturer - an informal visual inspection of the boiler shows it to look acceptable but being untested, it is an unknown. Any prospective buyer is more than welcome to take a look at the boiler in as much depth as they wish but we will not be booking a boiler test for it due to its size.

Overall, a pleasant model which could be commissioned to be steamed or would make a wonderful display item. Postage is available at the buyers expense but, as with any of engines, we always recommend you to visit us in person first to inspect it at your leisure.

£3,299

For more information please speak to Matt or Sean on 01392 833301. As with all of our engines, we strongly recommend viewing the engine in person on our premises. Please ensure you phone ahead to let us know you're on your way!
