Here is something completely different. This is a superbly made 4" scale model of the highly desirable Garrett 4CD tractor with one major difference - it is made of wood! The builder (who has now gone on to build engines made of metal) made this for fun a few years ago. The detail is amazing even down to the rally plaques and tin of Brasso on the toolbox. Turn the flywheel and the motion all works as it should and even the steering works. The pipework is actually copper so this adds to the reality. The paintwork is excellent and the cylinder block, smokebox and chimney are painted in such a way that they look exactly like cast iron.
Last year at Trevithick Day at Camborne I placed this Garrett on the bed of a 6" Foden "C" type waggon and drove in the parade. It really looked the part and fooled many people as it looked so realistic. See photographs of the event in our news section and you will see what I mean.
If you want a good looking and impressive 4" scale engine this will sit in the living room or conservatory without damaging the floor in any way. It would even look good on a trailer towed behind another miniature traction engine - this would look very impressive on the road or driving around the ring on the rallyfield without the problem of weight.
