This fantastic example was with us several months ago before heading to a local collector for indoor display. It has now come back to us in part-exchange and is still presented in the same excellent condition as it was previously. The photos and following write up are from last time it was with us as nothing has changed.

A lovely miniature built to the first design drawn by MJ Engineering. The design is based on the Burrell Gold Medal 5-ton Tractor of 1920, number 3846 - the original at the time owned by the late Sir William McAlpine. Since the launch of this 2" scale model, they have been a success and a real credit to MJ Engineering. We have seen several over the years; they always bear pleasant proportions and steam nicely, as with all the designs by the same company. In respect to this, it is no surprise that they also tend to fetch their money time and time again. Every effort has been made to make it a detailed model, so it looks at home as a display item on the mantlepiece. Equally however, this example comes with paperwork and is boiler tested until October 2020 so it good to go. An engine of this size would be easily capable of pulling 2 adults on flat hard ground with a good driver and head of steam.

It is a 2-speed, single cylinder tractor. Fitted with an injector and mechanical water pump alongside a hand pump fitted to the accompanying driving trolley. It has been built as per MJ Engineering's design with the Ramsbottom type safety valves and dummy Pickering governors.

This is a very handsome little engine that is very easily transported and is free steaming enough to rally for the more patient steam enthusiast. On the flipside, it is also small enough to be kept indoors as an attractive display piece! Overall, a lovely live steam piece which is presented in running order, ready-to-go.
