A gorgeous example of the Clayton Under-type Lorry - unusually presented in a rigid flatbed design as opposed to the typical artic set up.

One of the nicer examples of this design by R. Dyer we have seen. It is beautifully presented having not had much use in its life, spending much of it on display. It has a working pressure of 90psi, and it looks from the paperwork as if the boiler was produced in 2007 by Empire Engineering (dated 26/06/2007 with a boiler number of DG0607). We will not be supplying any further boiling testing in the price with this example but will sell it with the paperwork we have with it, the original test certificate from new and the drawings - if you are wondering about how to go about boiler testing, please give us a call on 01392 833301 for a chat about the options. As typical, it is a copper boiler with copper tubes and in the vertical arrangement. The engine is of under-type design with two pistons and chain drive to the rear axle. It has a steam injector and mechanical water pump. A hand pump is discreetly fitted into the beautifully made copper water tender.

This is one of the best examples of this design we have seen with every detail thoroughly considered. The doors have springs on, the joints are all good and the body well-shaped. The livery is plain but pleasant and could be considered a blank canvas for a sign writer to add your personal touch. The back is removable for access to the running gear. Having been on display, it doesn't look to have been run for several years so will need a degree of tinkering, as with many of these smaller scale engines, to return it to full service.

Overall, a very nice miniature which would make both a pretty display piece or a pleasant running model steam lorry.
