New Asking Price £7,995

An earlier build of the very well-known and popular 3" scale Burrell to the Plastow design.

It is fitted with a silver soldered copper boiler supplied in the late 1990s by Chambers of Weymouth. It looks to have been built to a good standard. Interestingly, we sold this very example back in 2015. At that point, our records suggest, the engine came to us after having been on display for quite some time. We commissioned it and sold it to the previous owner who has used it infrequently. Therefore, despite being a slightly older miniature, it hasn't been documented to have been used much in its life at all! The motion looks a little untidy in places but the cleanliness around the crank supports the theory that it has spent much more time laid up rather than in use.

It has boiler certificates from 2014 included in the paperwork, alongside some drawings. As it is to be sold in ready to go condition, we will be instructing our boiler inspector to carry out a full inspection on this one at point of sale (unless instructed otherwise by the buyer). We will also be including a half-day tuition with the engine at our premises to help guide the new owner in the right direction regarding the safe use of the engine.

As typical with the Plastow design, it is a 2-speed, single cylinder, general purpose traction engine. As standard, it is fitted with a mechanical water pump and steam injector for maintaining the boiler water level. The striking blue livery sets it aside from the standard 3" scale Burrell and really suits the engine. It is finished with some pleasant, and finely applied, red pinstriping on the cladding, tender, wheels, and flywheel.

Overall, a nicely presented engine which would provide hours of enjoyment for anyone who buys it!
