Offered for sale is this beautifully presented 2″ scale Traction Engine to the popular and free-steaming design offered by MJ Engineering. The sale includes drawings and literature, however, as is often the case with this scale of engine, there is no paperwork linked to the boiler. As with many, it looks to have been built completely by a very skill model engineer who has then never steamed it and retained it for either display or, potentially, running on compressed air.
We are offering it for sale as it is as an impressive display engine. Should you wish to explore the options of commissioning it for steam, you are advised to contact us directly.
Key Features:
- The copper boiler looks to be of sound construction. If the buyer wishes for us to check the soundness of the boiler, we would be happy to include a hydraulic examination as part of the sale price. There is no historical paperwork included, as common with this type of engine.
- A single cylinder with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkage.
- Mechanical water pump and a hand pump for filling the boiler when running.
- Fowling-type Steam whistle, displacement lubricator, and pressure release valve with a dummy governor.
- Well-built to a very high standard throughout. We don’t believe this example has ever been steamed so can be considered as being in virtually unused condition.
- The paintwork is smart and simplistic – it suits the engine and style.
- On metal strakes on the wheels for an authentic looking engine.
Overall, a pretty miniature which is particularly nicely turned out. A real display piece with the potential to offer more for the buyer if they choose to commission it into steam!
