We are delighted to offer for sale, on behalf of the owner, this Porsche Super B. Based on the Porsche 309, the Super B was intended for construction with this being number 150 of 200 made.

The Super B here offered for sale is a 1962 309 model with serial number 150 of the 200 built. Being one of the last in production it has all the developments that were fitted to a Super B. These additions include:

  • Power steering
  • Cab heater
  • Fritzmeier cab with wiper
  • Updated hydraulic system
  • Higher top speed

The tractor has its own hydraulic pump for powering the front loader bulldozer and power steering. Seperately it has a large PTO pump for operating the 3 valve controller back actor and support legs. This is fed via a 72 litre Hydraulic oil tank located at the front of the tractor.

Super B no. 150 was sold new by Porsche to a German farmer who had a contract installing telegraph poles. Due to an issue with the clutch, the tractor was laid up after 2-3 years on the road having only covered 1,515km and 1,853 hours. The tractor was found on its original farm in 2012 where it had been parked in a barn. It was then subject to a sympathetic restoration, possible as so much of it was in good original condition. That work consisted of new front tyres, clutch, hydraulic lines and pump, brake shoes and painting some parts and polishing those parts that were in good condition. The tractor was restored to fully working condition in 2015.

The current owner purchased the Porsche in the summer of 2018. All UK import taxes have been paid with a NOVA number and it is road registered with an age-related plate and V5 in the owner’s name. The tractor comes with extensive pictures of when it was found and restored. Furthermore, an operator’s and parts manual are included.

The front bucket, bulldozer and back actor are all removable which makes the tractor ideal for road runs etc. A very rare piece of Porsche history which is a one off being this complete and in this condition. Removing the attachments would make for a very usable tractor with a high top speed.

THE BEST POINTS

  • Rare (even in Germany)
  • Original low mileage and hours
  • Faster gearing
  • Cab with original heater
  • Power steering
  • Very usable and powerful
  • Can be run as just a tractor with removal of contractor attachments

KNOWN FAULTS OR DAMAGE

  • Age related marks
  • Some hydraulic lines do leak oil when the rear digger is fitted (does not affect operation and pretty usual for a vehicle of this age and nature)

THE STORY

Not widely known, but Porsche now famous for sports cars and motorsport did venture into the construction machine market. With Porsche having built tractors for a number of years under the name Allgaier and then under its own name Porsche-Diesel from 1956. The company ventured into building a machine suitable building work. They took their already established 3 cylinder Super model and denoted it with a B for Baumaschine (Construction Machine).

The machine consisted of hydraulic front bulldozer, front loader and rear back actor. The first super B’s were denoted 308 but then were updated to the 309 model in line with the standard tractor model line up. The 309 had slightly more power and many updates however only 200 were produced before the factory shut for good in 1963.

Overall, a very appealing and complete tractor designed for agricultural work and perfect for demonstrations and road runs!
