Miniature Road Steam

We are always delighted to have an example of the powerful and attractive 2″ scale Fowler from MJ Engineering in our showroom. This one comes complete with a nicely thought out, matching driving trolley so it is ready to drive!

The history of this one appears to date back to 1998 when it was assembled using a copper boiler from Cheddar Models Ltd. According to the paperwork, it started life green but looks to have been repainted in around 2009, at the same time as BH Leake fitted the vulcanised rubber tyres.

Key Features:

• The copper boiler looks to have been supplied by commercial makers, Cheddar Models Ltd. We don’t typically instruct our inspector to carry out boiler tests on engines smaller than 3″ scale here with the normal scope of a sale however do feel free to speak to us about your boiler testing options. The paperwork includes a good number of historical boiler reports and old photographs of the engine.
• A single-cylinder, 2-speed arrangement with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkage.
• Mechanical water pump and steam injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard. The driving trolley is also fitted with a hand pump for direct feed to the boiler.
• Steam whistle, mechanical lubricator, and pressure release valves, as expected. Also fitted with a set of dummy governors.
• Well-built to a high standard throughout. We are always impressed by the appealing proportions of this design and how well they steam for the scale. There is minimal wear in the gears and motion work.
• The paintwork is smart for 15 years old – the lining is hand painted and very complimentary of the black livery.
• The wheels are fitted with vulcanised rubber tyres for use on hard ground. It is not registered for road use.
• Includes a half-day tuition session, if requested by the buyer. 

Overall, a very smart little engine, modelled to high standard and a great outfit for use at home or on the rally field!
