Miniature Road Steam

Offered for sale is this nicely finished 4” scale Savage ‘Little Samson’ Steam Tractor. Although somewhat smaller than other 4” scale traction engines (this comes out somewhere between a 3” scale traction engine and a 4” scale traction engine), it is very appealing complete with its tractor fittings.

Built using a professionally made boiler from 2004, this one is being sold by the builder and owner, having not seen much use in its life so far!

Key Features:

• The welded steel boiler was commercially made by Bell Boilers in 2004 and is accompanied by full documents. As it has not yet been used outside of the owner’s private property, it doesn’t have any historical boiler reports however we would be happy to include a new commercial boiler inspection including a 10-yearly hydraulic test and 14 monthly in-steam/internal examination.
• A single-cylinder, 2-speed arrangement with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkage.
• Mechanical water pump and steam injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
• Steam whistle, mechanical lubricator, and pressure release valves, as expected.
• Well-built to a good standard throughout. It looks to have very little wear and is as expected for a little-used miniature.
• The paintwork is good with signs of use in places. It is generally smart and polishes up well!
• Fitted with tractor fittings including motion covers and a plated flywheel.
• The wheels are cast iron, as per the Savage design, and have rubber tyres perfect for use on hard ground.
• Includes a half-day tuition session, if requested by the buyer. 

Overall, we are impressed with this miniature which will undoubtedly give the buyer many hours of enjoyment!
