Asking Price SALE AGREED

Offered for sale is a well-built example of the popular yet uncommon 6″ scale version of the Garrett 4CD Tractor. The boiler in this example was supplied in 1992 by Harry Holt however we understand build did not conclude until around 2006. Since 2006, this engine has been rallied by two owners.

We are offering this one for sale on behalf of the owner. Due to a replacement firebox now being necessary to continue service, our workshops have started the required works alongside our usual boilermaker. The sale will not complete until the work is complete meaning this engine will be supplied with a fresh firebox, a clean bill of health with a commercial boiler report and our usual, full warranty. We are expecting it to be ready for handover in around 6 months from May 2025 however would be happy to secure it with a deposit in the meantime.

Key Features:

  • Steel boiler commercially made by H. Holt boilers. Replacement firebox and tubes currently being fitted by a coded welder/boilermaker to industry standard. Included in this sale is a fresh, commercial boiler inspection to bring boiler testing up to date for the buyer.
  • Two-speed, double crank compound cylinder arrangement. Slide valves actuated by Stephenson’s linkages.
  • Mechanical water pump and injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
  • Mechanical lubricator, steam siren & whistle, displacement lubricator and pressure release valves.
  • Mechanically, the engine has been built to a high standard. It has been maintained nicely although has clearly been enjoyeed in its life. Whilst the focus of our work is on the firebox, we will give the motion work a thorough check and resolve any apparent issues.
  • Cosmetically, it is painted in an appealing green with red wheels. It is a little scruffy in places, especially the rear wheels and on the tender. To keep the price fair, we are not planning on conducting any notable cosmetic improvements during the current rebuild however feel it is presentable as it stands.
  • It is fitted with rubber tyres, ideal for hard ground and tarmac. It includes a seat and is registered for road use with a current V5C.

Overall, a good miniature which, once completed, will give the buyer many years of enjoyment! Contact us to find out more about this one today on 01392 833301.
