An part-built example of a rarely seen 2″ scale Burrell Roller, built using the well-respected design available from MJ Engineering.
We believe this has been a long term project. It includes a load of drawings, literature and information including a boiler test card from 2002 which states the boiler is from 1992 and in 2002 was pressure tested to 200PSI. That means, so far, it is a project which has spanned over three decades and is not yet quite there!
A quick visual assessment tells us that the plumbing (including the pump and injector) is still absent along with a range of other ‘smaller’ jobs. Despite that, we would describe it as well advanced with a good deal of major and intimidating jobs completed to a reasonably high standard.
Key Features:
- The copper boiler looks to have been made by the original builder to a good standard and has been subjected to a pressure test since construction.
- A single-cylinder, 2-speed arrangement with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkage.
- The pump and injector are not yet present although an unmachined casting is included which looks to be the pump.
- The work so far has been conducted to a reasonably high standard.
- It is so far unpainted giving the buyer the opportunity to make it their own!
Overall, a well advanced project which we believe could be finished with a relatively small amount of engineering expertise!
