Project Miniatures

2″ Scale Burrell ‘Thetford Town’ Scenic Showman’s Road Locomotive Project SO590

Model Type Scenic Showman’s Road Locomotive
Boiler Construction Copper
Boiler Maker P. More (Non-commercial)
Boiler Year c. 1995
Gears 3-speed (gears missing)
Condition Incomplete Project
Asking Price £3,750

A partial attempt at the 2” scale double crank compound Scenic Showman’s Road Locomotive to the famous Thetford Town design by Ronald Clark.

Whilst many of the larger components are present, there are still a good number of parts required including the gears, dynamo, excitor, 2nd shaft, water pump, plumbing, motion covers and more. What has been completed has been done so to a reasonable standard with room for improvement in places. This offers a good starting point and has been priced accordingly!

It is accompanied by an old Southern Federation boiler test booklet which dates its first hydraulic test to 200PSI as being around 1999. It states the boiler is constructed from copper and was actually completed in around 1995. This looks to be one of those projects which sadly stalled and moved no further forward resulting it in remaining unfinished and never steamed to this day.
